Same thing with Nylander, he's good but he doesn't give you this package!!</div></div>
So you are right but at the same time so very wrong.
Yes, this package does not get you Nurse. HOWEVER, Brown's value is easily a 2nd and his value is raised going to Edmonton due to his relationship with McDavid. Moore will be a top 6 forward in the next year or two, so way off there. Zaitsev is 100% a salary dump. So you were half right.

A first and a real good prospect. The equivalent of that probably would have been a first and Liljegren. Liljegren is a slightly better prospect, but the pick is going to be worse than the one Anaheim got</div></div>
Nah man, Leaf fans justice because of guys like you. You can try and turn this around as much as you want but you are one of the people that said Nylander plus plus. Nylander is a proven NHLer not a prospect. The point still stands that this deadline is proving half of this site wrong!

The irony of Pesce is this the argument you use against Nylander. Nylander cant play away from one of the greatest offense in the league, well can Pesce play away from one of the greatest defense in the league? Are we really saying Pesce is going to be more of an impact player long term than Nylander!? The guy already has two 60 point seasons under his belt. To say Nylander doesn't have more to give is foolish, and to say Pesce has more upside is also foolish. Pesce is a shutdown defender, period. Nylander has so much more potential. They shouldn't be in the same conversation.

You have no proof that he will be "80 Point scorer a year" He is definitely paid like one, but definitely not in the position to be a 80 point scorer. If I am ridiculous, and you say Nylander is a normal 80 point scorer. you are a a casual hockey fan nothing more nothing less.</div></div>
That is a very sad comment. Dont make outrageous blanket comments, it just shows how little you know. First and foremost Nylander has played some of his best hockey of the the top lines. He made Martin, Moore and Nylander line look like a second line last year rather than a fourth. Talk about casual hockey fan, maybe Nylander haters need to watch a game for once. Every team fights and defends their stars when they struggle, the same people saying Laine is a God even though he is 15 games without a goal, are you going to bash him? Get off your high @$$hole horse for once and just shut up. No one cares about your troll mentality.

And why should Johnson/Kapanen, and other give up security and money just because the Leaf got themselves with cap problems by overpaying other players. Andersen, Doughty, Tavares, and Muzzin, all arguably elite players, are in their primes, with elite and very good talent no where near their primes makes for a championship team. If LA becomes a contender in two years, and the Leafs win 2 cups in the next 4 years, its worth it to me. I'd do the deal. Plus the Leafs have their salary issues to address</div></div>
Exactly, so why are we giving away all of our great valued ELC contracts. Sandin makes the Leafs next year and SDA makes the team halfway through next season/the year after that. Then we are giving up Nylander who even though I am mad at is "Elite" and then you are giving up high draft picks. Just seems like a huge over pay to me. I would prefer a Dynasty over a cup or two.

My main issues is your value on Johnnson and Kappi. There have been many players that are in their position that dont get such homerun contracts. See Brown, Brown was coming off his ELC and had a 20 goal campaign playing a mix of top 6 minutes (sound familiar) and signed for 2.1$. There is no way Kappi and Johnnson get his much. I would rather give one a one year contract for low AAV and risk paying out higher when Marleau expires then to just give up now and over pay. I just dont understand.

Bring it on internet rip me apart but here we go.
I would NEVER pay that much for one player unless it is a 100% in his prime player. That is complete outrageous. That is not happening. Drew is good, he is great, he is top 5 in the league at his position, but there is no way I pay that for him. That would single handily turn the LA Kings around and fast forward there rebuild by at least 2 years. This would be a God send for them and potentially crippling for Toronto if those players all turn out to be as good as they can be. Yeah Toronto may win cups in the meantime but no I am not doing it.

If Carlyle is fired
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LoganOllivier</b></div><div>So in that concept it won't be a 1 for 1 trade. St Louis will say he's a franchise #1 defenceman which he just isn't. He's never been the #1 guy in St Louis always the #2 RHD behind Pietrangelo. How will he play if he thrust into a position of being a top guy? Its hard to say. The blues are going to want Nylander, Liljegren and a 1st and that is a massive overpayment. Nylander for Parayko would be a trade I would do, but only if its a 1 for 1 which it won't be.
I'd rather send Kapanen to Carolina for Pesce, I don't see Parayko as great as most people but I know he's a very good player, I see Pesce as a better fit for TO though since he's more defensive and as long as he doens't turn into a massive dumpster fire like Komisarek did, he'd be a good addition. Just not for the priced people on here are talking about.
Also I don't get some of your logic, you say you can't win if you spend all your money on defence or all your money on offense and then cited several teams who have won the cup recently. Apparently the moral of the story is, you need to have stars and good players to surround them. Nylander is going to be a star (I'd say he already is one) and trading him for far below his value is not a good idea.</div></div>
Another game with 5 goals. One shot on goal and minus one. Thanks for coming out nylander. I hope he can dry his tears with all his money.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>exo2769</b></div><div>I guess anyone can get traded for the correct return, but why Ellis? He's good, but not that good...also a UFA next year. Also, I don't at all agree that forwards (wingers specifically) have a premium. Wingers are the easiest to replace. I see you're a Leafs fan. The analogy would be why Marner won't get a Matthews contract. Bob McKenzie does a decent job explaining why on TSN. Check it out. Centers and Top Pair Dmen have the premium.</div></div>
For sure and I get that, I guess the argument is, if Laine could be sold at a premium to a team that needs offense, why not move him for a better piece long term. Theres no secret cap is an issue and the argument is Laine will make around 9-11mill. So why not move him out?
Ellis is more so a place holder for an idea of a return, not necessarily the player I would go after.

I am pretty sure Nylander has outscored him over the past 15 games and if we compare the players ceilings, again Kapanen comes up short. I love Kapanen, don't get me wrong, but Nylander is just better. Nylander is absolutely a top line player and on this squad I see multiple 80+ point seasons for the kid (keep in mind he is still 22 afterall). I think the absolute best year for Kapanen will be a 30 goal 50 + point campaign.</div></div>
Thats not my argument. You are being hung up with the notion of Leaf Fans saying he is bad. That is not my argument. My argument is to move him from our core to bring in a piece we need more. My argument for Kap is that he is a great second line winger with Marner being our number one. We are not an 80 point season from Nylander away from a cup. We are a one amazing defender away from having no team, Tampa included being able to touch our depth. If I have to sacrifice an expensive forward so I can sign Kapp for like 5 years @ 4 and then bring in a Parayko I am doing it without a second look.

If Carlyle is fired
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LoganOllivier</b></div><div>Again, have you watched the last several games? Nylander missed training camp and the start of the season and then came in with the enormous pressure of his contract. Many fans immediately railroaded him because they have apparently forgotten how good he is and that would also impact a player mentally. All of that happened and then he slumped when he was finding his legs, he's getting close to mid season form and his confidence is coming back and he's scoring and creating a tonne of chances. He's dominating from a possession standpoint and he's even added a cycle element to his game which TO needs to do a much better job of as a whole.
And now you are saying that Nylander is embarrassing because in a game the leafs crush the opponent he gets 2 points and that still isn't good enough because a different player had 4 points? Come on man, you are better than this. This is fairweather fan nonsense. Nylander is better than everyone the Leafs not named Matthews, Marner, Tavares or Rielly. There is a big margin between him and the rest of the team. He has so much more skill than the rest of the players and his determination and game is getting much better. Just watch him next game.</div></div>
Again this argument started when I said, if he doesn't go a point per game for the remainder of the season he should be moved this offseason after his bonus is paid for an area the leafs need help. You don't win Cups by spending all your money on defense (Preds, St Louis, Wild), you dont win with spending all your money on forwards (Hawks, in some ways Pens, LA) you need a balance. And spending all this money on JT, Mathews, Marner, Nylander where is the space to get a top defender. The Leafs are one more move from not contending but dominating. Why not move Nylander if he isn't living up to his contract. If Nylander can get you a Parayko, then he is worth moving. Especially when we now have a top 6 Kappi on our hands. Moving Nylander gives up Marner, Kappi and Brown. That is a very VERY solid top 9 RW.
