I would prefer getting back maybe a defensive prospect but Kamenev is a big guy that could be helpful in Montreal or Laval

Kamenev is good two-way C who was sidelined by bad injury otherwise he would be in top-9 in Colorado. He has nothing to do in AHL, he gotta need opportunity to prove himself and what better choice.

Big time pass on this. Kam is NHL ready prospect, 1 st, and a 3rd is way to much for Patches. He would help but hes a 30 year old pending UFA, thats not at all what the Avs direction is right now. Avs are just not in the situation that they to spending assets on older rentals

Skinner was a lower level prospect than Kamenev and mid round picks, why would Avs trade better assets for patches

Patches wont get that sort of return from Vegas. The skinner trade really skewed the market for a guy like Patches this late in the offseason.

yeah thats not really how things would work. Again Montreal doesnt have the leverage as they already basically announced they are going to trade him. Teams are not going to over pay right now when the return on guys like Hoffman, Skinner, ROR have been low.

No one is going to offer up a 1st, multiple other draft picks, roster player+ for a 30 year old Pending UFA. Montreals best chance of getting a return for him is to keep him to start the season, play up his value and wait for a team that needs to make a trade to either deal with an injury or if a team is struggling and needs to make a change.
