At this point I think you can get guys from Ottawa by sending a nicely worded email to Melnyk saying how unfairly people treat him these days.

As a Leafs fan I can't help but to get a little bit of pleasure from the misery that is the Ottawa Senators but this is just out of hand. Poor guys are literally experience what Hell is like.

Yeah I agree that it may be a little bit of an overpayment, however I wanted Duchene to be signed long-term as a part of the deal.

I get no pleasure from fans getting poor performances from their teams. I know one team wins the Cups and then from # 2 to 31 there are varying degrees of success, hope, failure and dismay.

As Leaf fans we suffered through years of poor management....final years of Quinn, Ferguson, Burke and Nonis. Complete incompetence by GMs and owners resulted in a poor ice performance. Unfortunately for Senator fans it looks like some years of suffering on the horizon.

Not the horizon, they are sitting in a car that went off a cliff into a lake and now are sitting and watching the car slowly fill up with water. Some fans are still revving the engine but most should be hoping that a rebuild will happen before they drown in misery.

Strange how the Sens were in game seven in semi finals in 2017 with great hope for the future and in one season have turned into absolute poo hole.

It wasn't a surprise really, the year they went to the cup final was a Bouchard special. The team really only have 1 star on it with Karlsson, they were out played almost all the time, bled scoring chances and eventually it caught up to them.

Might seem like an overpayment but if that's what it would take to happen, no CAR fans would be upset. Rask is out of favor and probably doesn't fit in with the team since he'll likely be getting 4th center minutes (3rd at best). Faulk isn't a necessity since he'll be playing on the third pair and CAR has two guys who can easily slot into the third pair without him. PDG likely doesn't play much this year. I'd rather not lose the 2nd round BUF pick, so maybe change that with CAR second rounder or a later pick.

Point is, they're dealing players who would be on the bottom of their roster anyways and probably need a fresh start. Maybe they can get more for that or give OTT less, but Duchene would be extremely valuable to the Canes and is exactly the type of player they need right now so wouldn't mind overpaying slightly.
