As previously mentioned, Vegas does this deal in a heart-beat: Elite winger and overpriced middle-6 winger all for a single 1st round pick? Of course!
Ottawa gets two first-round picks and a replacement 2/3D and sheds Ryan's contract? That basically meets their reported asking price, except they're getting two picks instead of a pick and a prospect.
Pittsburgh... eh. I'm assuming this trade is contingent on an extension for Karlsson in the $11+ million range, given all the salary cleared. So they definitely get a big boost to their D at the expense of a 1st and an elite forward. I guess that's not completely unreasonable?
I'm not sure why this is getting so much hate. The Sens are getting a lot of assets for a player that really sounds like he's ready to leave for *nothing* after one more year. Vegas makes out like bandits. Pens improve their defense, but at significant cost. Not saying this is likely, since who knows how all the various GM's and players with NTC's feel, but it's far more reasonable than some of the stuff you see proposed here.
