Avs do not need Gardiner, you claim they need help on the left side, just bc you aren't aware of how the current Avs D on the left said played last season, doesnt mean they would trade a potential top 5 pick for a pending over priced and over rated UFA

Yeah and they also could use a LW. Maybe they will give you Nathan Mackinnon for Zach Hyman

There are no maybes here. This is an awful trade for Colorado, there is going to be a high probability that the pick ends up 1st overall. It would take Marner at a start to get that pick, especially if it results in hughes at 1st overall.

Gardiner has value, and yes he would be an upgrade in the 4-6 spot on the Avs but he is not a high in demand need for them. Current D core is:

Zadorov, Johnson
Cole, Barrie
Girard, Nemeth
Barberio

Timmins, Meloche are in the AHL right now and are prime to take spots soon, Makar is on his way. so he potentialy have 5 guys 23 and under in (Girard, Zadorov, Makar, Timmins, Melcohe) all needing to carve out spots on the club. If anything Avs will probably looking at moving Barrie just to do that in a year, not trading high picks for Dman. Its exciting that this club actually has a Young D pipeline and it doesnt seem to just be one made out of hopes and dreams. Some serious young talent there

I meant it was an embarrassing most put out by a Leaf fan. Leafs would have to add Marner to make it fair. Avs sure made a big step last year. Now the next steps are the toughest. But thanks for the insight on the Avs, they look like they have a good young cost efficient base to build on.

personally I am hoping that a trade happens bw the 2 teams that focuses on a barrie nylander swap. I think that could work, depending on if the Leafs are unable to make their cap space work after next year
