I doubt MTL gives you Patches, retains salary, and gives you a first let alone any picks for that return. Carolina trade is better but I am not sure the send both Faulk and Skinner for that. I could see Schmaltz and first for Skinner but then more has to be put on for Faulk.

That Carolina trade is a rumor....Montreal finally has a center(for a few years as well) plus a decent RD, for cheap, to help with the loss of Weber

Shmaltz is worth more than Skinner... 22 year old centermanon an ELC capeable of 50-70 points is worth more than 26 year old winger with expiring contract and a NTC who is capeabel of the same 50-70 points. The only plus to skinner is he likley gives you about 10 more goals than shmaltz.

Habs are rebuilding. This is the opposite of what they need to be doing....

Anisimov is older but still provides leadership as a center...Murphy is only 25...thats young enuf for a rebuild...

Habs are losing a 1st rounder and a 5th......those are 17 year olders right now.

Pacioretty brings more leadership than Anisimov does. Murphy play the RHD side which the Habs already have Weber, Petry and Juulsen. This just creates a logjam for them.

So next year they have their first rounder but no captain. I highly doubt Paches will re-sign. Weber has had/going to have some major surgery. You will need a RD to replace him.

Habs have plenty of alternate captains. That isn't a concern in the slightest. Weber will come back eventually. We don't need an eternal replacement for him. We need a replacement for him for a couple of months only. That is where prospects like Juulsen come in....

The last thing the Habs need to is veteran roster players to play right now. They are trying to lose games here.

Agreed. I'm fairly realistic on what the habs can get for Patches, but this is maybe the worst trade by a landslide I've seen for him. The habs wouldn't give up their first alone for those two. Anisimov is a third line center and the habs already have a few of those.

I love the part where MTL gives up there best scorer, someone that gets on average 30 goals a year, AND their 1st rounder that WILL be a Lottery Pick for 2 players that are "good enough" hahahah

Here, take my best scorer, and my potentially 1-15 draft pick. and ill take a 2nd line center that "has leadership abilities" and a Dman thats maybe a 5/6 at best. ... yup sounds good to me haha

As a Hawks fan I'll take a hard pass on the CAR trade. Schamltz is younger than Skinner, has more potential, and will probably be locked up for 7 years at a reasonable price after this year.
Faulk is great and I think the Hawks should pursue him but only if the price is right. They have 3 A+ RHD prospects in the system.
Also CAR has FOUR top-4 RHD on their roster now. I think most of the league knows they're going to move one of TVR or Faulk. There is no reason to overpay.
