It's a good question, if you remember Trouba asked to be traded from the Jets at one point. Would love to get him on the Leafs.

Jets have lots cap space, so they sign him but will he sign, no clue.
Morrissey and Trouba are the future of the Jets defence IMO.

I think the 'Canadian' thing was more media hype. My understanding was that he was 3rd pairing to Buff and Myers and wanted a bigger role...but I could be wrong. He's been over 20min per game every year

He was pissed off and requested a trade because Maurice put him on the opposite side... that’s for real.
He Held out for a few weeks but then finally signed a deal. That deal is done now but I’m pretty sure winning changed it all, and they’re good now. They got the space and I suspect he’ll sign soon.
But man would he look good in a Leafs Jersey.

Leafs shouldn't make that trade...it's the cap and the carryover of Perf Bonuses. And really unless the make other moves, they can't afford Perrault and Trouba and maybe not even just Trouba.
Trouba has set himself up to be a UFA in 2020. Trading for him probably doesn't change his agenda.
