Okay what is this? Strictly undoing trades / specific signings? Chiarelli never happens? I don't quite understand what you're getting at. It's incredibly arbitrary and super unlikely for every team to get every move right.

Its not really hindsight with Eberle and Schultz. It wasn't a coincidence that as soon as they both left, they started playing extremely well. Its something in the Oilers organization that just makes some players not play to their full potential

You aren't going to get those RFAs, not sure you understand compensation rules.

All players were once Oilers property or were looked by Oiler scouts, Carlo would have been picked with pick 33 before Boston as their were no shutdown RHD in the Oilers system, they would not need Reinhart or Larsson trades

I feel your pain. DATM took a last place team with a great future and turned it into a last place team looking for a future. Murray drafted poorly, traded poorly, passed on great trades trying to extort GM's for more, mishandled the cap, insulted the press, insulted the NHL, Insulted the other GM's. He did one thing very well, he signed Rodrigues.

I really don't agree with you. Eberle had one deviant year of a lower shooting percentage, while Schultz isn't all that good to begin with, just happened to be on a Pit team that won and got a bunch of assists on the pp. I agree on the part about the oilers organisation, but IMO thats more about these trades keeping on happening. Hall was elite in Edmonton too, but if you keep trading away whatever talent you have left, the players on your roster will look worse and you will personally look dumber.

It's not much, it is the lack of patience shown in Chiarelli, the man who traded Seguins quickly because he wasn't showing potential, also trading Kessel and Wheeler because they were not playing at the standard they wanted, the same man who immediately traded Hall because he said he doesn't listen to coaches while Buffalo Management left when Eichel said he isn't going under them. It is a lack of patience and only building a physical game. No need to trade a 1st and sweeten a 2nd rounder just to acquire that one physical defenceman that ended up being Reinhart, not to mention trading Dougie Hamilton because he wasn't toned to be a Bruin. Wake up, the Oilers management doesn't look like it is patient at all and acts like it wants to win next year, they need to draft and develop first.

Stats wise, Eberle put up around the same points as he did with Edmonton, but I just remember Oilers fans hating on him and I could never understand why. He was always a solid player. So yeah I agree with your assessment with Eberle. But your assessment on Schultz is off. He was a hugeeeeee part of the reason why they won. He just wasn't on the team, he was a big part of the 2 cups. When Letang went out in 2016 and missed the entire playoffs, Schultz was their best defenseman. Schultz is an extremely solid top 4 dman

Eberle didn't play much better after leaving was more same as usual. While the Eberle trade was bad, should have gotten a pick or prospect, same situation as the Hall trade, Both players we got in return have eventually filled a important role on the team. Just wish we had 2 extra 1/2 rd picks for them.

Yeah I dont know why Eberle and Hall were traded. I always thought they were very solid top 6 forwards
