1 year of Duchene is still a lot more than two 2nds, the CAR pick may become an all star player, they are not trading it away

Welcome to this website.

Duchene is a 2C and 50 points a season not 70 points a season. As I said in the description, (2) 2nd round picks or a 1st round pick.

And so the #8 pick won't become an all star player? Bouchard, Wahlstrom, Jersperi? Okay, wish I had your crystal ball.

Yah, OTT will give away Duchene for 2- 2nd rders after what they gave up to get him just a year ago??
CHI is in a bad spot rite now tho and I do agree that yinz need to something big to get rid of a cpl contracts and bring in that 3rd star type guy.

Ottawa made a big mistake to get him thinking he could be a legit 1C. For what ever reason, people have hyped Duchene over the years to be the next coming like a JT but he's not even close to the top 20 centers in the league. If the Sens decide to rebuild and want him out, he's nothing more then a 1 year rental due to his UFA. That's not worth more then a couple 2nd picks or a mid to late 1st round for a 50 point 2C guy. I honestly don't think the Sens should trade him and instead sign him again for another 4 years but who knows.

KEEP DREAMING
Duchene had a down year but has scored 70, he's worth a late 1st + prospect + roster player (I have no idea where you checked ur stats)
Svechnikov is projected to be a lot better than those you listed
Oh, and the only useful player in your CAR trade is an underachieving Saad, since when does adding pylons (and cap dump) getting you decent players

#8 not an all star, maybe a high top 4 D/ top 6 F. not the kind player Svechnikov is supposed to be. also its not fair to judge any of the sens for the seasons they had, especially after the news about hoffman, i would be hard to have that kind of cancer in the locker room with trying to focus on playing.

I agree with ur assessment on Duchene , just dont see OTT giving up on him after what they just gave up for him.

Duchene had ONE breakout year of 70 points. In 9 seasons he's averaged 53 points. The last 4 seasons since his breakout year have been 55, 59, 41, 59. He's worth a mid to late 1st or a couple 2nd's for a ONE YEAR RENTAL....some of you rooks can't seem to understand he's a UFA after one year so that is all the trade is worth....one year.

The rest of your comment makes no sense. Maybe a little less time playing NHL video games is all I can think?

cheers Yeah, I think the Sens keep him and maybe sign him to a $6M/$6.5M x 4 or $5.5M x 6 deal.

Hard to say. You can look at the all stars today and lots of them were 1st and 2nd rounders. Hard to say how someone will develop in the Show. Whalstrom, Bouchard, Hughes, Jesperi, Dobson are all guys with the tools to be 1st liners too....stars thought?....maybe and maybe not.

yea but looking a svech, 90% chance he will be an allstar, the other 50-60% chance. theyll still be studs, but allstars?

I think you don't know the difference between a deadline trade and a 1 year player

Yeah, I agree with that. cheers But what does Carolina want to do, rebuild? If so, is one asset worth getting the #8, #27, 25 year old Saad and upside guys with 22 year old Duclair, 20 year old Hillman, and even 25 year old Forsberg should turn into a solid backup after only his first year getting real NHL time? Can't build around Faulk, Rask and Darling....they are role players and Faulk is not better then Pesce, Hanafin, and Slavin.

You mean to say, "I don't think you know" not "I think you don't know"...I'm old enough to know that.

I clearly know the difference which is exactly why Duchene isn't worth what he's worth at a deadline trade. A 50 point 2C is worth more, like a 1st and established player, to a team making a cup run at the deadline, not nearly so during the off season.

Sorry, I wrote my grade 8 English exam too long ago
The Duchene trade is not realistic, I'm just going to end it here

Mine was in the early 90's but never forgot the basics.

I agree to disagree, good choice.

Well, as far as the lines I would have Schmaltz playing #2 center and Duchene playing #1LW

The trades....That Hawks/Canes deal...... Talk about a blockbuster....

So lets see here, let me break this down..

1. Anthony Duclair, 8th, 27th & 65th overall for 2nd overall (Svenchnikov) - IMO, that's fair.... The Hawks move up 6 spots but give up those 3 picks and Duclair to do it - it's risky, but for Svenchnikov I'd do it.

2. Anisimov & Hillman for Viktor Rask. - It's a little bit biased towards the Hawks, but not much.... At the same time the Hawks gave up a lot to move up 6 spots in the draft so this kinda evens the 2 trades out..

Saad, Forsberg & Hossa for Faulk and Darling (1,400,000 retained) - this is more than fair, this is actually tipped in Carolina's favor.....

As independent deals they look great when you break it down but the Hawks are giving up a TON of assets, but I think it's OK... This trade surpasses "BLOCKBUSTER"status tho, this is a "MEGA, MEGA DEAL", lol...

As far as the Sens Duchene deal - I think (2) second round picks is a little low, I think the Hawks would have to add a prospect to make that work.....And IDK if Ottawa is willing to trade him so soon after acquiring him.....

Also, the Hawks have 6M in cap space left, I would definitely use that to bring in a few "shutdown" bottom 6 forwards and guys that have been excellent at the dot... Sign a guys like Vermette, Maroon or Hartnell etc.... You can never have too much depth or experience on your team... And those 3 would be really great adds..... No they're not going to play a ton but those are the guys you use as a 2nd PK unit or toss them out there to shutdown an opposing line....

Yea, it's pretty interesting tho.

The problem is the 2nd line FO% especially on the penalty and PP. Schamltz is terrible at the dot and Duchene is great....we need to take the load off of Toews so Duchene on the dot does that.

The other thing I wrote in the description is Duchene for a 2019 1st? Or, skip Duchene and sign JT for 10.5 for 6 years which would be better I think given that the wingers are young and locked up.

I have faith Schmaltz will figure out how to win draws.... Winning draws is something you learn, it's not really a natural trait. I'm sure Schmaltz has been working hard on that this summer (and he has plenty of time to get better, lol)

IMO, I would try to stay away from high priced long-term contracts with the exception of Panarin, if he's available next summer - you lock him up long-term at 7.5 per..

Remember, Debrincat and Schmaltz won't be cheap forever...... Schmaltz is up next summer so, he's going to want $3,500,000 on a bridge deal, and Debrincat will cost the same at least. Both guys have the potential to be $6,000,000+ players in 5 years..... So you gotta think about that when you sign UFA's to long-term deals.... I think part of the reason why the Hawks found themselves in "cap hell" for many years is because Bowman took the approach of "win now and worry about cap hell when it comes", well "the time has come" many times... I suppose my point is I think Bowman should take a more planned out approach to the salary cap and I think he is..

I don't have a problem with Stan bringing in a big contract as long as he has a plan for 4-5 years down the road.
