Caps trade is iffy.
And not sure why everybody keeps penciling Fabbri into a top 6 starting role when he's hardly played at all in the last two years. Hope he forces his and becomes a difference maker, but why count on it? Otherwise, looks good.

Would make so much more sense for the Caps salary cap and future outlook to trade Holtby over Grubauer and give him a legitimate shot at starting. If I am not mistaken, I believe Holtby has a NTC, so that is a barrier to dealing with him, but he comes with 2 years at just over $6 million AAV.

In the same world where the same GM gave 2 top-45 picks for Andrew Shaw, who is now rumored to be on the trade block himself

I'd actually prefer Holtby for 2 yrs, then trading Allen & allowing Husso to mature in the AHL. I just don't think, with how they've leaned on him in the postseason, that they'll move him. Something's gotta give w/ all their goalies though.

I really just dont know what to make if him, but I hesitate to move him in a deal, & he's not suited for a bottom 6 role.

I would say at this point, even a Conn Smythe winning Braden Holtby would be obtainable, for a fair, very large price, of course, but if this new NHL is all about selling high, keep your salary cap as low and flexibility as possible then it MIGHT make sense to see what they can get for him. To resign him, I bet that Sergei Bobrovsky's next deal (he's a UFA after this coming season) will be used as a comp for what Holtby could sign for, whether that is with the Caps, Blues or someone else, that is all up in the air.

Washington only has 5 FW signed past this season. Berglund on their 3rd line for 4 years at 2.38 mil would be a great deal.

And as I said in another response, I'd prefer Holtby

You realize the point was, they can have Eller and Berglund, right? They need inexpensive, yet semi productive, and Berglund would fill those shoes. He plays the wing, as often as he play center

Who said anything about "this year"? He scored 23 last year, and had seasons of 22g & 21g. This year, he scored 17 in 57 games, so ~25g pace over 82gms. His #s in his career actually are better than Eller's, & they're less than a year apart in age.

True. But Eller cannot form an entire 3rd line by himself, so..... insert an inexpensive 20 goal scoring Swede who can play center or wing

Anything but an ELC is expensive to the caps
