It doesn't work that way. They specified you had to have the open roster spot AND contract spot in order to place a claim. Your waiver claim will probably be voided if you aren't at 22 or fewer players unless they are making changes/exceptions to the original rule. This rule applies to yourself, EDM, and VGK right now. OTT, CHI, and PHI have the roster space and contract space to make waiver claims. You can't see the players on waivers and then decide to claim them and open up a roster spot - that's why there was a roster freeze.

Like, OMG I wish they'd do a split screen all the time so I could have the game on one side and on the other would just be a camera pointed directly at John Tavares's pretty face.
PUKE PUKE PUKE. I do NOT question in any way that JT is a Hell of a player, BUT now that he's a Leaf the announcers are over-hyping every little thing he does as if it were the greatest play that's ever been seen in hockey.
They could at least try to disguise they're forced affection for everyone wearing blue.

Whenever a team places a player on waivers. There's a 48 hours limit however. The first waivers opened at 12 pm EST on Oct. 3 and closed at 12 pm EST today.
