Counter Offer:

Ottawa Senators Sobotka, Boumeester, Parayko, Fabbri, Kyrou, 2018 1st and 2019 2nd and 3rd.
St. Louis Blues Karlsson and Hoffman (1,687,000 retained)
sens get a little more value in exchange the blues save the bother of buying out Boumeester. you also Get Hoffman at 3.5 million, which I think is a pretty sweet deal.
edit: the sens get the higher second

I'd be ok with it except for the Kyrou part.

No way, Hosea.
I previously offered Parayko, Steen, Thompson and Kostin for Karlsson and Hoffman. I thought THAT was a major over-payment. You're crazy if you think you're getting anywhere near that kind of value.
Karlsson is unquestionably an elite talent. But his contract status severely limits his value--much the same as Shattenkirk's was when the Blues traded him. Hoffman is a legit top six player on a good contract, but not enough to command all that in return. Bouwmeester isn't really tradeable, much as I'd like to include him. Same with Fabbri. I think a fair counter offer would be Parayko, the 2019 Winnepeg 1st, Berglund, and ONE of Kostin or Thompson. If that don't cut it, I'd not be calling back with any other bright ideas.

The Blues or any other team wouldn't make a deal of this magnitude without signing Karlsson.

Your offer of Parayko, Steen, Thompson, & Kostin for Karlsson and Hoffman wouldn't cut it in real life. That might be all you would personally like to give but that doesn't make it reasonable. Steen is aging and really should be playing 3rd line minutes. He's not a difference maker. Thompson and Kostin both are wild cards for now. Nobody knows exactly what their NHL value will wind up being. Neither are a top of the line crazy elite prospect that would move the needle if you're combining them with Steen. Your deal basically breaks down to Parayko for Hoffman and then Thompson, Steen, and Kostin for Karlsson. That's wonderful if it would work but even Dorian isn't that stupid.

I'm sorry I'm not giving up the entire future for a couple rental players. You don't actually know if EK will resign

Yeah I’d take that deal in a heartbeat if we could work out an extension with EK

Trade would never happen, Karlsson would never report to St Louis, mediocre team, city has nothing to offer he can't get elsewhere. Not to mention maybe St Louis should be focusing at upgrading at centre instead of finding players in positions where they are ok???

I agree that trade would never happen. No GM would give that much for a rental and a #2LW. I won't defend the city of StL, because it deserves all the bad press it gets. But no fan of Ottowa, or a dung heap like the Windy City, has any business knocking StL. And clearly, if you think StL has nothing to offer, you've never had pasta on The Hill, or toasted ravioli, or spedini, or Ted Drewes frozen custard, or Schlafly beer, or a Saturday evening at PTs Showclub. StL has never had trouble attracting talent (like, who, exactly, is lining up to sign in Ottowa?) A big chunk of StL atheletes move their families to the city and stay after they retire. Who retires and stays in Ottowa?
But, to each their own.

I'm not defending Ottawa by any means... I don't know where you got that. The only reason Karlsson is still in Ottawa is because his contract isn't allowing him to leave, and dung heap lmao... haha...next
