Sekera may very well still be an effective player but after the season he had, no one is risking that. As of right now, Sekera adds very little to a trade value. He needs to have a better season this year then maybe teams might start to be interested but as is no. That's the main problem with this trade. Remove him and replace with someone who actually has better value.

I think the Oilers are overpaying, Carolina just doesnt immediately benefit. Sekera isnt a cap dump, he was playing hurt, but day 1 from this trade Carolina loses, only getting Sekera back when they are already strong at LHD. But Yamamoto is a fantastic prospect and Carolina is possibly getting a lower end lottery pick with that 2019 first (which, with the lottery, could jump up to #2 as they did this year, you never know) probably switch Sekera with RNH but then EDM is severely over paying and should keep the pick or prospect

So what if you replace Yamamoto with rnh and top 5 protect the 2019 1st round pick?

Interesting, especially if Fleury is cool developing in the minors for another season or 2. Sekera still doesnt hold much value for Carolina, thats why i was thinking RNH, 2019 first, and Slepeshev (or even Bear to fill in a RHD spot, might have to be Benning though based on how they value Faulk)
