Are you suggesting:
To EDM: Carrier (50% RS) & Sissons
To NSH: Ceci, Bourgault, 2024 1st
Money would work with EDMs cap accrual at the deadline.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Aasen6</b></div><div>So Edmonton downgrades on both ceci and foegele, while also giving up one of there best prospects and a 1st? Yeah that’s not happening</div></div>
Downgrade? Don't see it that way, there is some debate around Ceci & Carrier. I like Carrier's game, would like to see his game paired with Nurse but I also wonder what his resign tag will come in at.
But Sissons and Foegele are not, keep in mind Sissons is a positional need for EDM (RHC), additionally signed for a reasonable cap hit for 2 seasons after this one. Foegele is a redundancy with Holloway & Mcleod playing LW. Keep in mind the contract is part of the trade equation. Also EDM is in win now mode, the first and former firsts are on the table for certain. You may not like the price but these prices won't be too far off.

It's an overpay for an 3rd string goalie, but EDM will be forced to overpay and they are desperate.

Woody Wake Up
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Fail4Nail</b></div><div>I love Woody, but he has been frustrating so far this season. He needs to let the young guys (Broberg and Holloway) play bigger roles, as they're starting the season off good. Woody has too much loyalty with some players, ie Janmark and Desharnais, so it is frustrating that they have a longer leash. More thoughts:
- The bad play of Kane and Brown is really hurting us. They are not back to their pre-injuried form, and its taken a toll on our top 6 and overall depth scoring. This is partly a reason why 97 and 29 are being overplayed.
- Ekholm and Bouch haven't played as well as they did last year, so that's not a plus.
- I think we are a lot better than our record shows. 2 games now that we lost against a good goalie, ie Vancouver and Winnipeg.
- I think the McDavid loss is a blessing in disguise as well. It will force our guys to dig in.</div></div>
Young guys have been some of the few bright spots on the roster, agreed.
Kane and Brown need to be better, I think that will come (hopefully sooner than later) and I hope its on a 3rd line with 93 when 97 returns.
Ekholm and Bouch struggling has really hurt as they were so great down the stretch, I'm sure they will turn it around soon.
I think the team assembled is much better than a 1-3-1 record however their play is spot on with the record.

I guess it all depends on what they end up signing the RFA's for, and we can't know the correct strategy until we have those numbers.</div></div>
That kind of forward thinking wouldn't be tolerated!

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JKCpp</b></div><div>I would rather the oilers keep Kulak over ceci</div></div>
Well that is the conundrum right there.
- Would I rather EDM trade Foegele or Ceci instead of Kulak ... yes everyday of the week but that seems unlikely this offseason (Core member nonsense & Nurse partner)
- Is moving Kulak in order to resign Bouchard and Mcleod + run a 22 man roster worth it ... I believe so, their value on the roster far exceeds Kulak as a 5-7 dman
- Broberg dilemma, EDM appears unwilling to move on from the player and will place him in a position to get the most minutes possible.
The way I see it EDM should have dealt one of Foegele, Ceci or Kulak in order to sign the RFA's and make a 22 man roster. I dislike the 11&7 for extended stretches as Woody deployed, and I genuinely believe the Oilers need to carry a 22 man roster minimum. It didn't bite them as bad as it could have last season.
You can call Jones, Toews, and Bear replacement level but price tag matters and in order to make the pieces fit someone has gotta go

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caniac555</b></div><div>I would very much like this should they move Skjei instead of Pesce. Kulak would add some additional defense to the bottom

Orlov-Pesce
Kulak-Chatfield</div></div>
1. The cost may be a touch high but its gotta be close, EDM acquired him at the dealine (50% salary retention) for a second
2. I haven't really been following the EK65 scenario but if it falls through Kulak would be a great 3rd pair skating dman to add to the mix
3. CAR to me is such a fit, as he is very versatile, they have cap space and he is under contract. But that is as an Oilers fan looking from 30,000ft above

As note of clarity:
I do believe Yamamoto is tradable but, with EDM's lack of RW depth, I would sooner know for a fact the Brown is capable of playing top 6 (following his injury) and that Lavoie is ready for NHL action.
Additionally, Broberg should be given the opportunity to prove himself in the bottom pair, not as the optional #7. That does not help him or the team assess what they have in the player.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CD282</b></div><div>Signing Nurse was a mistake? I can't imagine the team without him. And Yamamoto earned that contract with a stellar 21-22 campaign. Holland's "mistake" was not knowing the future... pretty tough standard to hold a guy to.</div></div>
As for Yamo, I'm waiting for that shoe to drop before I render full judgement. In my opinion $3.1M x 2 was an overpayment (Jordan Kyrou signed $2.8M x 2) but I understand that he and JP were tied together and after signing JP to a $3.0M there was no way Yamo was going to come in under that number. If they buyout Yamo = massive fail, they need to get a pick or prospect back at a minimum.
Furthermore, last offseason was a mistake in my mind with regards to Yamo and JP, they needed to pick one and proceed. It would have maybe saved them a couple points on the overall cap hit and allowed them to go long term on Mcleod.

The 2nd Bridge to Overpay on Nurse is Hollands mistake, fair that its not his fault we've been stuck with a flat cap since 2020. But thats one of a few mistakes

Silly Season
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CD282</b></div><div>Lots of veteran cover is good. However, I'd like to see Broberg in a full time role next year (as would Ken Holland), so I would either trade Kulak or not sign Schenn, moving Kulak to the right side. Also, there's no way Desharnais clears waivers, so signing Schenn is more costly than it looks on the surface.
Also, why not sign Brown to league minimum (or close) with bonuses that spill over to next year? The cap is set to rise a lot next season, and that gives you enough cap space to offer Bouchard the Dobson contract: $4M x 3.</div></div>
Definite oversight on Vinny D, would still like to see Schenn and lose Grant.
I choose to go $2M (assumed bonuses still) on Brown as it sounds like there will be plenty of interest on the player. Higher base salary may be required in order to land the player.
As for Bouchard, Bob S has mentioned time and time again he thinks 1-2 years $3.0M to $3.5M

Edmonton mistakes:
Athanasiou, yes (didn't qualify him rightfully so and moved on from a over priced qualifying offer)
JP, kinda (dealt him in season, could argue that they should have moved on in the summer when he had some value)
Kassian, no (played 2 full seasons on the terrible $3.2M deal)
Yamo, TBD
Nurse, TBD
Campbell, TBD
I'd say he could be better, but to each his own.
I'm sure the Detroit fans would argue that the last few seasons of Holland were full of mistakes that weren't admitted too or dealt with.

Severson will get offered more by teams like Anaheim however EDM offers a legit chance at a cup. The Budget crunch that EDM is in means whomever signs is taking a discount.
I wish the Cap was climbing to the point EDM could go 8 years with Bouchard but it just seems highly unlikely at this point.
Raddysh for Yamo or Foegele + 2nd ?
Ceci is a decent 2nd pair defenceman, someone will pay a price for him. Agreed Minny makes some sense, I like ANA as Shattenkirk is a UFA and they need someone to play tough minutes in the top 4
