Svechnikov is going 2nd regardless of who gets the pick. Only thing I have to say about this

I wouldn’t say that happens necessarily. I could definitely see Edmonton taking Zadina over Svechnikov at 2. Even Boqvist could jump up to 2nd. IMO it depends heavily on the team that’s picking.

I'm uncertain on Svechnikov because of his brother. Didn't work very well so far for Detroit. I pick Zadina because they are about even imo, but Zadina doesn't have family lineage to suggest he may be a only a decent prospect. Tkachuk is probably #4 and Dahlin is #1.

The Rangers wouldn't do the trade. That's basically a playoff first for a great player. You'd need to add Benson to even get them to listen because they are doing a fast retool instead of a full rebuild.

Believe it or not there was a time Svechnikov was the projected 1st overall pick (before Dahlin made the SHL full time). He’s right handed, plays RW which a) isn’t so common in this first round b) the Oilers lack in natural RW’s based on this team, and he can also play C too I’m pretty sure. Much better at 200 feet than Zadina, although Zadina is the much better shooter. Pretty close but we’ll see come draft time!

Basically this is the same argument as Matthews vs Laine when the 2016 draft was coming up. Not a bad problem to have as either will fit well in edmonton

I don’t know about any other player as Iv only watched them in world juniors, but i live near Barrie and have went to 5 games this year and watched Svechnikov. He is impressive, one of those skaters that’s seems like he is gliding but always ahead of the play, in the offensive zone he seems to find the seems to the slot so easily, watched him feed 5 passes through the slot in a single shift.

I think he is going to be a special player and I think he will be able to come into the league as a top six forward right away

Detroit would take Andei Svechnikov with the #2 pick, Because he's on record stating that he wants to play in Detroit with his brother and only Detroit.

A great player? That product of Stamkos and Kucherov has 4 points since joining the Rangers 20 games ago

He’ll come around. It’s gotta be weird to go from a top team to a rebuilder for a young established player. The effect on him should be the opposite that JT Miller is feeling. I dont buy Miller being that good or Namestnikov being this bad. I think he’ll be >40 points yearlyonce he settles.
