Ristolainen trade: Tampa gets to have a top 4 of Hedman, Ristolainen, McDonagh, and Sergachev while also still having Kucherov, Stamkos, Point, Gourde, Johnson, Palat, and Killorn up front. And keep in mind Cal Foote is on the way!
O'Reilly trade: Carolina gets that #1, faceoff dominating centerman in O'Reilly and keeps their young, potentially elite defensive corps together. Sabres get a nice, young, cost controlled RFA winger in Teravainen but also take on Kruger as a cap dump to even out some of the cap.
Ristolainen and O'Reilly play for the worst offensive team in the modern era of hockey.
Ristolainen on Tampa playing top pairing minutes along side Victor Hedman would most likely have 60+ points a season and O'Reilly surrounded by Aho, Skinner, Williams, Lindholm, ect would probably put up 60+ points per season as well as continuing to dominate faceoffs.
I know we are a bit thin on RHD but keep in mind we have 4 2019 1st rounders that can easily be spent to acquire an already established RHD or to possibly draft a stud RHD.
Just an idea but tbh I don't think the values are too far off and IMO we may get a little more out of Ristolainen if we sent him to Tampa.
Let me know your thoughts on the new and improved Sabres team, but instead of telling me that it won't work, let me know what you would do to tweak it so that it would work
Sabres also have plenty of money to spend on a free agent if needed
We give Carolina what they want (#1 center) Carolina gives the Sabres what they want (60pt RFA wingman for Eichel) that way Mittelstadt can stick at #2C. We also get Miller from Tampa who is also an RFA
We have crazy center depth with Eichel, Mittelstadt, and Miller. And we have 4, not 1, not 2, not 3, but 4 first round picks in a strong draft. Why the hell are Sabres fans so baised even tho we are the worst team in modern era hockey history.
Still a lottery team that's light on the back end.
Well forward group is greatly improved from this season, defense group is considerably better, and goaltender is better + we have 4 1st rounders, 2 2nd rounders, and 2 3rd rounders in a strong draft with $12M in cap space left
I don't think you'd be able to get Teravainen from Carolina in that package, probably Lindholm or one of their better forward prospects. Teuvo has been great for them this year.
@Zach JT Miller has looked much better than McDonagh so far. He's complimented Stamkos or Kucherov or anyone who he's playing with. I still miss Vladdy tho... But giving up JT, Raddysh and a 1st (which is locked Ina condition with NYR) doesn't make sense for us at a cap standpoint. Also, JT and Raddysh are both to young and are looking too good to trade.
