well the fact that Ottawa has one of the cheapest owners in all of the NHL, they won't be pushing up against the cap, especially to the point that they dont even have the cap room to fill out a full 23 man roster

I don't think Tavares would want to sign with a team that is shopping E. Karlsson and is a rebuilder, not to mention they have EUGENE MELNYK as THEIR OWENER!!

Ottawa has THE CHEAPIST OWNER in the NHL, and you think Tavares wants to sign there. He has 30 other teams who would gladly give him the money he wants. Also why would you trade you franchise player (Karlsson) only to sign an other franchise player (Tavares) to an 14,000,000 deal.

I think that might be the worst Karlsson trade I've seen on here. It's not like Nate Schmidt is Colton Parayko or Charlie McAvoy or some stud. he's a 4-5 D who is having a career year on a team full of over-achievers. Literally every team in the league could beat this offer without blinking.

overpay for two ufas and having no cap room makes for a poor ottawa team in the future. three of those trades heavily favour ottawa(not the Vegas one)

that Duchene trade makes no sense for Minnesota. they'd have to shed salary, likely by trading someone for a Kunin like prospect....

Duchene to Minnesota would certainly heat that rivalry up some more!

Karlsson is more likely to bring back that value equivalent of what you got from the first three trades than to bring back Schmidt, 1st, and 3rd.

So for Karlsson 2 prospects, 1st rounder, 3rd rounder, and a 4th rounder.

Two 1sts, Kunin, Schmidt 3rd, and 4th.

Awful lines except that 1st line (banking on signing Tavares to that ridiculous amount, which I would never do), defense is great but that's totally banking on signing Carlson

I don't see why they would trade Karlsson (and not pay him) if it is to pay Carlson and Tavares 22 M$ per season.

That Duchene trade is bad for Ottawa. The Karlsson is even worse, not sure.
