Players can ask for whatever they want, but the market ultimately dictates their worth. I like @Wotisthebest prediction that Pastrnak may well be the comparison, but with the down year he is having in comparison, I could see a max term deal (8 years) at between $5.5 and $6.5 million AAV. Considering the down year though, it could be worth while to agree on some sort of 2-4 year bridge deal.

After a bridge deal he will want a 8 year deal at the end of the 8 years he will be 32 then what he still going to be good but on the wrong side of 30 so back half of the deal will stink so what do you do then if he kills it on the bridge deal then it might go up to 9 what if cap keeps going up. If I could I would sign him 7x8 so he would be around 30 not 32

- When Kucherov came off his 22 points in 26 games playoff performance his potential stardom was expected. Yzerman signed him to a $4.8 MIL bridge deal. As everyone knows. he leads the league in points this season with another year left at $4.8 MIL.
- Pastarnak's 20 goals so far is OBLITERATING Marner's paltry 7 and Nylander's 10 and everyone knows that Pastarnak is signed a long term $6.7 MIL contract
- Marchessault has more goals than Marner and Nylander... COMBINED... and signed a long term $5 MIL deal

....but a lot of the people here feel that Lou, Mark, Shanny, Kyle and Babcock will get duped into giving out contracts that rival the horrific contracts given by the management of the worst teams in the league?? Buffalo and Edmonton?? Really???

Nylander's bridge should come in around $4.5 MIL and a long term under Pastarnak's $6.8 MIL. I think.
