You have a point there... every GM in the league knows that Montreal is desperate for a 1C, so nobody is going to do what we call a "hockey trade" - Montreal is going to have to overpay to get one. This isn't an unreasonable trade (a little high, but not egregiously so), I could see it happening if Bergevin is under pressure. I mean, look what Ottawa paid for Duchene. RNH is in the same tier.

As a Montreal fan it's a no. Ryan Nugent Hopkins is not even a number one center and he is older than galchenyuck. If I were MB, I would draft my center because trading for one is a lost cause. Oh yeah, I would trade Patches for RNH. Even then, RNH could be a dissapointement in Montreal. He is not a faceoff guy and not as offensively gifted as people would think he is.

Man that 1 year age difference means everything. I will agree Nuge isnt a true 1C, he is a fantastic 2C (something MTL still kind if lacks) who plays a solid 2-way game. This might be hard to believe because he is on a team with Leon Draisaitl & Connir McDavid, but lil Nugie leads the team in goals so I'd say he has a fair bit of offensive ability.
