Not even close value for Dougie, the guy was 9th in Norris voting.... Only way this happens is Mark Stone is involved.

Also I don't think Sam Bennett is going anywhere anytime soon in Calgary, he's showing up as the player we thought we drafted, hard on pucks, pain in the you know what to play against, he's bringing it every night. I don't think we are moving our highest ever drafted player, who is finally figuring it out.

I am not arguing Hamilton's value but how is Brassard + Ceci + 2nd weak?

Brassard was a proven 60 pts player on the Rangers and a playoffs monster. He had a down year last season adapting to Boucher's system but he is on pace for 24 goals and 56 points this year. The team acquiring him can probably re-sign him to a friendly deal for a few more years (like 4 years x 5.5)

Ceci is not necessarily used in his best interest but this guy is good despite what his detractors say. Problem for him is that no one is better defensively on the Sens. He would look much better if he was playing behind 2 better D-men (defensively). Normally Karlsson would be one but he has been bad defensively this season. Ceci is asked to defend against the best skaters night after night and that's not what he should be doing. Give him a bit easier assignments and watch him flourish and even add offense to his game.

a 2nd round pick is never weak, gives you a good/decent prospect if you can draft.

For a top pairing defenseman who is a 24 year old right shot, a possession monster, and already in the mix to be a top 10 defenseman in the league. This deal would be very weak. Flames traded a 1st and 2 2nd's to get him and that was a major steal. Brassard is a #2 C, would probably be a #3 behind Monahan and Backlund, but with Bennett rounding into form and Jankowski contributing, adding another C doesn't make sense. If it was Brassard, Ceci and a 2nd rounder for just Hamilton, that still wouldn't be close to enough. Ceci would be below Giordano and Brodie on Calgary, and possibly below Hamonic as well. The 2nd rounder doesn't mean a lot in this case, only 50% of 2nd rounders ever play a game in the NHL.

Take out Bennett and Calgary still says no. Trade the 2nd for a 1st and Calgary still says no. Start with Mark Stone and Calgary might take a look at it. Even then I think it would take more than just mark Stone to get Hamilton. Defensemen are valued higher than wingers. If Taylor Hall only gets you Adam Larsson, Hamilton should net you a heck of a lot more.

Reading comprehension... I said : "I am not arguing Hamilton's value"

Which means that I was not arguing about Hamilton's value or even Calgary needs; I was arguing about what the other poster said. that Brassard + Ceci + 2nd was a weak package, which is definitely not.

Mark Stone is untouchable, it would take more than Hamilton to interest (however you never know with Dorion...). I assume you are a Flames fan but that is silly to say that "it would take more than just mark Stone to get Hamilton"
