I'm not seeing the realistic here.

What's realistic about Minnesota sending a 2nd pairing defenseman plus a 6th rounder for a player who isn't half the player Minnesota is giving up. Either in value or in talent.

SJS isn't going to do that.
Not sure how I feel on the MIN trade. At worst I think the penguins can easily not resign POJ and move on. At best they can move his rights for some kind of draft pick and move on.
Not sure they need to take a player back in moving him. I like the options in FA better to be honest so rather save the cap.

As for that Lindholm contract. I wouldn't sign him past 3 years.
There is no need to give him a long term contract like that. If someone else wants to, go for it. I will say he's having a good playoffs which helps his value. But there is simply to much inconsistency for me to want caught up in that long term.

Why do you say "take a player back in moving him" as if you're not getting your "some kind of draft pick" and a better player?

better is really a relative word here isn't it. You are talking about a guy with a 47% corsi over the last 3 years, not breaking even in any of them.
Given he does do 56% of his starts in the Dzone.

He's ok. probably, but the real issue is does he actually fit the penguins, and I don't think that's true.
You have to be a good skater to play the penguins system. Which is why the stay at home Defensive defenseman doesn't work well here.
They need players who have above average mobility. Especially in that 2LD role, as Graves who's lack of mobility will put him in that stay at home role in his own end going forward. We saw that at the end of the year.
So the whole "better" is a relative term here. I don't think he's a better fit. Not that I like POJ there, I don't, and I'm content with not resigning him. Just like I'm content with keeping the 2.5 mil on Middleton and hitting up FA for a better fit on the back end.

Rakell 4x5M still owed. You are not getting a pick back. You are adding at least a 1st to dump that deal
