Description
I would do this trade from Montreal's perspective for a couple of reasons:
1. Monahan could get injured again and he then loses virtually all of the trade value that he has right now. His value probably will not be higher than it is now.
2. Capitalize on Edmonton panicking and the fact they are in "win now" mode. The picks do not mean nearly as much to them as they do to Montreal.
3. The money is roughly equal for both sides, as is the term for the big contracts/cap dumps (Anderson vs Campbell)
4. If this trade makes Montreal worse for this year then that only serves to increase their draft odds, which is important since they are still in the middle of the rebuild.
5. The optics of trading Anderson and perhaps buying out Campbell immediately upon his arrival probably look better than doing something else with Anderson, such as sending him to the AHL or buying him out.
6. Trading Allen now, when his hot start to the season is still fresh in Edmonton's mind, would be trading him when his value is likely as high as it will be this year.
7. I like Anderson and maybe getting him with McDavid or Draisaitl will be the boost that he needs.
8. If Edmonton misses the playoffs their pick is a lottery pick.

Would Edmonton do this right now?

Don’t see why Edmonton does this

Campbell = Anderson
Ceci + Foegele + 2 1sts >>> Allen and Monahan

At this point in time, Habs extend Monahan.

I think that Anderson has quite a bit more value than Campbell right now, even though Anderson's start has been very rough. If you put him with Edmonton's stars consistently he will start scoring like the 20 to 25 goal scorer he can be. Right now Campbell has no value whatsoever.
Monahan is a very good complimentary player to the Oilers roster (which is a good roster that is obviously underperforming) and could be a big factor in the playoffs.

What if the Edmonton 2025 first round pick was changed to a 2024 second round pick?

I love what he is doing right now for the Habs, but if they can get younger value for him then I think they should do so. His injury history just causes a lot of concern.

Anderson isnt that bad given 1's an NHL player and the other got absolutely stomped in an AHL game proving EDM was right to bury him.
Anderson plays great with Dach as they power through most teams defense and create a lot of chances.
While its Primarily Dach and the D producing Anderson breaks into the Offensive Zone which is an are MTL struggles with as Anderson and Dach are really the only ones good at it.

Too many moving pieces though IMO
IF we trade J.Anderson and L.Anderson its him for Campbell ,1st round pick and Holloway
Otherwise no thanks,id rather Anderson and trade Allen without taking back a goalie so Primeau/Monty can play tandem
