Description
I have seen some proposed trades from Rangers and Sharks fans where these two guys are either being traded as partial (or full) cap dumps while other fans argue that they are players that you have to trade value for despite their age and salary.

I am interested to see what the fans of each of the clubs say.

Panarin isn’t a cap dump, but I’m fine to move on for little to nothing to get over $11.6 mil in cap space. Opens up the possibilities to resign all of our guys, gives Laf an undeniable top 6 role, even makes it possible to try and trade for Vatrano who fit in perfectly with us. Losing the regular season production sucks, but we need to better prepare this team for the playoffs grind.

So would 2 young prospects (one of Harris/Struble/Engstrom on D and Kidney/Mesar/Farrell as a forward) plus Montreal’s 31 or 37 get Panarin and New York’s first???
Montreal could then flip Panarin with retention for a younger return.
      Just curious

Any team that can afford to take on Panarin's full contract....well isn 't good enough for Panarian to agree to trade to. Don't think he would waive anyway. Same with Karlsson.
And you're not getting a good return. Teams would just spend that cap on a UFA this year or in the future

I agree that those 2 guys may not waive for a team with lots of cap space to stay with those teams but those teams could be cap brokers.

From Montreal’s perspective, they could take Panarin or Karlsson on the understanding that they would flip them to a playoff team (either immediately or at the deadline) at half price for additional prospects or picks. The players MAY waive for that.

at no retention sharks maybe want a first and a squad player. Tbh id do it for a bag of peanuts as much as I love EK. Although I am in the camp that max retention and max return >> no retention and tiny return
