Description

Scenario where the asking price for Hellebuyck and Saros becomes too much (which it probably will). Jarry takes a bridge deal similar to what Gavrikov just did and Dubas builds a better blue line.

Penguins shed half of Petry's cap hit to get younger and better on the blue line. They pay the Ducks to retain $1,562,000 who then send him to the Wild. The Wild take Petry at a great value and get a veteran presence after Dumba leaves as well as Power Play help. In return, the Penguins get more of a defensive player in Middleton which helps their ailing Penalty Kill.

jarry won't make 5.5 in pit that's for sure. if he signs a bridge deal is below 5 for sure.

the only way I see jarry make that much is on a 5 year deal and we choose he is the best option in net.

also bottom 6 is bad.

The problem here is that you are overpaying for Monahan when you can get a better fit for the same, possibly cheaper. That bottom 6 is possibly worse than last year, Engvall is at best a lateral move to Zucker, and the D maybe slightly better.

Retaining 3mil on Petry to then sign Severson @6 means you're basically paying him 9.125mil. And then added another 1.5ish going from POJ to Middleton. Just seems like a lot of money going to that defense and a forward group that very much needs help. The defense is definitely better, but I'm not sure it's enough to make up for the worse forward group.

I would bet a lot of money that Petry has ANA on his NTC list anyways so he most likely blocks the trade. Although I'm not sure how that applies in a trade and then immediate trade scenario like you described

Jacob Middleton isn't available. He's not being trades for a calen addison / lesser D player. You aren't getting a cheap, big body dman that plays with spurgeon from Minnesota. Not a chance retained or not Minnesota is taking on petry or helping another team

Agree on your points, I made this a very defense heavy ACGM.

As for Petry, I believe if he was told he was ending up in MIN (and ok with it) he would waive for ANA.
