Description
jackets improve their Kings first rounder from 23rd OA (currently) to 10th OA. This improves their chances of getting Bedard by 3.5% and gives them another premium selection in the draft. We send them Myers to make the money work, and Hog to give them an extra young piece.

The loss of the RHD hurts, but their chance at the yoffs are slim and they got a lot of good young players coming up to be a powerhouse in 5 years or so with Jiricek at the RHD helm. This draft they will secure one of Bedard, Fantilli, Carlsson or Michkov and with our pick could select Sandin-Pelleka or Reinbacher for RHD, or another elite centre.

IMO this is a no brainer for Columbus. Its not quite ideal for us since Roslovic is a pending UFA but if we could re sign him it would be good.

Roslovic doesn't want to play in Canada, He pretty much forced his way out of Winnipeg. Plus Roslovic and Boqvist aren't enough to drop 13 spots in the draft.

That’s terrible for the Canucks. Dropping 13 spots to acquire an offensive d man who doesn’t produce and is made of glass, and a middle six forward which we have a lot of already. No reason to do this

First, no one is going to want to acquire Tyler Myers and his $5 million signing bonus payable on July 1, so he can't be included in this trade, but there are teams who will take him with an incentive after July 2.

Second, what is Nils Hoglander doing in this deal? Columbus will be THRILLED to move the LA pick to tenth overall. (And you DO know that if you lose your last game and Detroit and Washington win theirs, the pick becomes number 8, don't you?)

Third, this might make sense if you were getting Andrew Peeke and a very good prospect (i.e., a youngster with real potential), but both Roslovic and Boqvist are iffy (Roslovic because, as you've already pointed out, he's a rental, and Boqvist because of his injury history). Even then, this is indeed a "no-brainer" for Columbus, but a dubious action for a team that was so far out of the playoffs this season.

I've been working on a response to this since I saw it was posted and had no comments yet. I'm glad I decided to refresh before I posted my own comment because you've helped me distill my own thoughts.

I do think there's a kernel of a good deal here. Take out Roslovic and Myers for sure; neither have any value to the other team. Swap Boqvist to Peeke. Rebalance from there with lesser prospects or picks. But a core of 10oa for the LAK pick and Peeke seems like a good starting spot.
