if that’s the return for Saros, I don’t think a third round pick would stop them. That’s a hell of a return.

I don’t think it makes sense for Pitt though unless they feel Saros is the difference that can get them back to cup contention. And it depends on if Nashville believes Askarov is ready

Top three to five goaltenders for hockey don’t come available very often. Ryan Miller comes to mind. He went for Stewart, Carrier, Halak (Neuvirth and Klesla) a first and third. The first ended up moved for Evander Kane. Miller was a rental though, Saros has two years left.

These types of guys are rarely traded, but Saros is a game changing goalie. The problem is, finding a buyer and it’s harder than you think, because only so many teams need him, and of those teams, only so many have the assets.

If Nash is offered two 1sts and two A prospects they had better say yes and no backsies.
Soros is great but people get hung up on recency bias. He has only been a starter for 1.5 years. In his first 1.5 years Matt Murray looked like a HOFer.

Miller, numbers wise, would be a good comparison except Miller was a starter with elite numbers for 6 or 7 years. That is a big difference.

I think Soros will go for a 1st, an A prospect, and either a B prospect or 2nd/3rd. He has the numbers but not the track record and (as you stated) not many suitors.
