Hawks won't trade Blackwell or Dickinson if all they get back is a 7th. Dickinson w/ retention is worth a 3rd at least. And Hawks don't take that little for 2 years and $11m of Cal Peterson. Takes a 2nd or more to move him, which is why Kings probably won't do it. If Hawks acquire Seabs from Tampa, he'll be on IR, not LTIR. They'll want his cap hit to count.

No thank you on any of these. If I am taking Bailey, the conversation starts with '23 2nd (Johnson for Johnston is pretty much a wash and a '25 3rd is a LONG way from a '23 2nd. Cal Peterson is a 5 million a year cap hit for 2 more years (11 million in actual salary over those 2 years) for an AHL level goalie at this point given his last couple of season performance. Hawks are not taking 4th, 5th, & 6th rounders (all of which have low probabliliuty of ever turning into even a singular NHL player (much less a meaningful one)) to roll the dice that Peterson MIGHT rebound into an actual NHL player with 11 million bucks for the privledge. Peterson starts with Turcotte or a 1st (and likely needs a little sweetener added to that. Seabs....the old GM already made the mistake of nostalgia when he signed him to that contract, I am not compounding that mistake with another nostalgia let's have Seabs "retire" a Hawk trade where the compensation does not match the finacial hit we are absorbing. 6.875 million cap hits (and 4.5 in real money) take way more than a 6th rounder to move. Why burn 1 of the 2 remaining retention spots on Dickinson all to buy a 7th rounder? Save that retension spots in hopes of moving Murphy, Zaitsev, Tyler Johnson, a one year UFA signing (ala Domi) to at the least buy a 2nd rounder.

It's only 900k real money even on regular IR insurance kicks in that contract is insured at 80%so make it a 6 this and a 5 next year gets you 6.875 cap hit at 900k real dollars nice floor incentive.
