I think if the Habs win the lottery, they may consider expediting the rebuild with a couple of big moves.

I don’t think they want to do a “Carey Price thing” where they have a generational talent fall in their lap (like Bedard) and then go into the playoffs with an unbalanced team that doesn’t really have a chance to win.

The current roster needs 2nd line scoring, and the yound defence corps needs a right handed #1 pairing option that can run a power play.

We still have a little cap space. It could allow Hughes to make a deadline splash for a rental goalie , should he feel the team is worthy of that investment.

Eventually, Edmundson and Dvorak are important salaries that will come ofc the books.

Edmundson will not be missed as our young kids are already taking his place, and once Dvorak’s contract runs out, a younger and cheaper Beck will assume his 3C role.

Maybe that eventual cap flexibility, along with an increased salary cap creates room for the acquisition of an elite goalie.

A Gallagher buyout is also something to consider.
