The more I think about what Boston needs the most, I believe forward depth is a bigger need than defensive depth. The d-depth for the playoffs would be as follows; Reilly, Zboril, then Stralman. That's not bad. Forward depth however is not as deep.

These are in my opinion the best targets for BOS in terms of forward depth and what the trade would look like for them. All 3 would slot in at 4RW, and sending Smith to PRO would make the cap work, while also keeping him as depth. Doubt anyone claims Smith off waivers.

Personally prefer Barbashev out of the 3 because he can play anywhere in the lineup if injuries happen, but would be fine with any of them.
