If the leafs don't make a good run this year and Mathews's full NMC kicks in next season things could get bad. that being said.
If Mathews goes to the market I have heard on a couple of tsn and Sportsnet shows that there are multiple teams already getting ready for that and LA would be one of the big ones there, Kopitar retires or takes a lesser role, use his $10 mill plus a little extra and then get Mathews to slide in at like 13 or 14 x7. You would think he would be happy living in LA, a better org, and is still close to home.

Everyone says Matthew "aint playing on college ice". By the time he hits FA, if Arizona for sure is building a new building then that's where he would play for the majority of his career. Team looks like they are on the UP, hometown, team has the cap. I don't see why it cant happen if he hits FA.
