I’d like to think that Puljujarvi has a lot of upside and more to give than he’s performed in the NHL so far, but if he couldn’t produce better numbers along side mcdavid then I don’t think there’s much more room for him to grow.

Going into the playoffs I think Toronto would prefer a guy who kills penalties and can truly play up and down the lineup with speed.

Does Edmonton qualify him next season or let him become a UFA?

I think JP is one of the rare cases where playing with mcdavid/draisaitl wasn't the best for his development. It seems like now he's changed to a role player and doesn't carry the puck as much, and because of that is pretty meh on the ice. I think he would have been better off playing to his strengths from the beginning and a change of scenery MIGHT turn him around a bit. I also doubt EDM qualifies him next season.

Kerfoot is soooooo much better than Pool party. You would have to add something with value for that trade to go through

As a Leafs fan I would easily take this deal. Kerfoot can be a useful depth player but doesn't do nearly as much as fans think he does. I've always been a fan of JP so I have some bias here, but its also worth noting that this would free up some space (not a lot but management always gets creative with its depth moves) for TOR to make additional depth moves at the deadline. With Jarnkrok on a cheaper deal for the next few years it seems like Kerfoot would walk at the end of the season anyways.
