Keep it simple

I would bet good money that Bear would be a disappointment in TO. He's just not that great. He's be a 3rd pair guy and one who isn't the best with the puck on his stick. Holl is cheaper and just as good.

I agree with the idea, that they just need a simple move to bolster the defense, but Bear doesn't fit the profile* of the type of defensemen that they might want to add even if he finds success in Toronto. Worth noting that the Leafs would need to move a contract out to make a trade.

They could, however, just wait to see what the dcore looks like once Liljegren and Benn are healthy.

During his time with the EDM, Bear proved to be a physical and stable defenceman who could hold down the third pair, with the upside to get better.





Solid puck-moving, very good offensive zone passing, good entry defence. Generally pretty consistent with what he was doing in Edmonton. Don't see why he couldn't be a decent second-pair RD on the right team. I still believe there is a good defenceman there.

Probably should have told your GM what Bear's "actual value" is
