Description
Leafs will trade Kerfoot. Minnesota is a viable partner, given their lack of F depth. This allows them to bring Lilly back into the mix on D, while not dumping Holl, and to bring Nicky back up onto the 2nd line. Does this make our F mix better? Probably not - but its going to have to happen to keep our D stable and give the younger players an opportunity to play. Also, Rielly switches to RD to allow for Lilly and Sandman to play - Holl rides the pine.

Détails additionnels:
Minnesota doesn't have a ton of F depth - this gives them a 'Swiss Army knife' that can put up ~50 points - solid pick up for a low pick.

This is from the Athletic season preview by Dom and the Athletic staff. I think the Wilds depth is just fine. Wild will decline.

"But a roster isn’t just made up of four forwards, two defenders and a starting goalie. The Wild are built for more balance, with the best supporting cast in the league. They try to make up for what they lack in star power with their depth up front and on the blue line. The Avalanche, to compare, are projected to have just 5.1 wins between their supporting players. That’s a gap that Minnesota has to try to exploit."

Might want to do your research on wild before saying Minnesota doesn't have depth. Wild aren't paying leafs to take on Kerfoot. This never stops with leafs fans. Minnesota has better, equal to and cheaper player than Kerfoot in their 4th line. It's ok to not make up false logic

Lol. Of course Kerfoot would be better than the guys on your 4th line, nice try. He’s definitely be on your 3rd line.

Over who exactly?

Greenway? Eriksson-Ek? Foligno?

That line as constructed was the best shutdown line in the entire league last year, allowing the fewest goals against at even strength during the regular season. The only line, in point of fact, to allow fewer than 10.

Both Eriksson-Ek and Foligno are better players outright than Kerfoot. And Greenway's size, physicality, and chemistry on that line are a better asset that currently outweighs whatever benefits Kerfoot would bring to it. Even if Kerfoot is a better player than Greenway.

And frankly, whether Kerfoot is a better player than what we have in our bottom nine is honestly inconsequential and meaningless to the point at hand. We don't care, because he isn't necessary. He's redundant. Especially when we already have 3-6 players just like him on our roster already. He may be better at it then some of them, but they're either better, or cost less but provide the exact same skillset.

Kerfoot doesn't fit anywhere in MN's lineup right now.
-7 FWDs are better: Kap, Zucc, Hartman, Foligno, JEE, Greenway, and Boldy,
-1 FWD adds a physical game that Kerfoot can't: Duhaime
-1 FWD is a highly touted rookie: Rossi
-2 FWDs are roughly the same as Kerfoot (C/W, jack of all trades, master of none): Jost, Freddy G. Both of them combined are cheaper than Kerfoot.
-1 FWD is dirt cheap and worth taking a gamble on: Steel

That leaves Dewar as the cheap 13th FWD. Kerfoot is a definite upgrade but not worth the $2.7m cap hit.
