Description
Alright so all of this is for the entire season and based and assumes no roster changes prior to the deadline. The special number is 0.2150537537006182. That is the multiplier for the % gain between day 1 and the TDL (this can be tested by taking any teams current cap space and dividing it by Cap Friendly's projected TDL cap space).

Since Calgary is currently not at a full roster I want to test what their projected cap space will be at the deadline with a projected full roster for the season.

Pre deadline cap space = $1,124,167
1,124,167 / 0.2150537537006182 = $5,227,376.7

So we can assume Calgary has about 5.23M cap space at the deadline if they run a fully healthy 23 man roster all season long (this is not likely to happen as many things can happen throughout a season). This would mean they can likely make some decent additions providing they have the assets.

Pastrnak - More or less based on the Hossa to Pittsburgh deal. Boston can't complete an extension on Pasta so they trade him to get younger with more team control. Bruins fans are probably not going to like this but it is a lot more in line with reality than thinking he will get the Tkachuk return as a rental

Valimaki for Leason is interesting.

CGY keeps Dube & their 1st. Would prefer either:

(Toffoli or Hanifin) + Lucic + (Zary OR Ruzicka) FOR Pastranak + (P.Zacha or C.Smith) but BOS would need to move out a couple LD's to make space for Hanifin

CGY would then need to decide whether to re-sign Weegar or Pastrnak long-term, as I don't see them affording both unless both (Hanifin or Toffoli) AND Backlund) are moved in the off-season to make Cap Space and then Coleman would likely need to be moved the next off-season to re-sign Lindholm. Tanev's contract will be up the same year as Lindholm, but will likely be replaced or demoted to 3rd line duties and signed for cheap due to being 34.5 years old

Yeah not a fan of that proposal at all. Especially with Hanifin, moving a 1st pair defenseman while you are contending is just stupid. And Boston likely has little to no interest in Toffoli if they are trading Pasta, you have to consider the other teams needs in proposals. Dube + Ruzicka + 1st gives them something to at least build around for more than 1 year

Thanks for calling me stupid there buddy 🤦‍♂️

In any event, I don’t think Krejci and Bergeron re-signed for a tear down. Taking on Lucic’s full cap hit would be silly so they simply get a 3rd team to take on 1/2, which should be easy and less than what it cost to dump Monahan as it won’t cost that team (ARI, BUF or ANA) much to do so ($1mil x 50% = $500k in salary = all that’s owed to Lucic), so just cap space

Hanifin who’s worth more like $6.5-7mil/yr would bolster BOS’s Defence. CGY has Weegar who can replace Hanifin at 1LD and lots of Depth, so to move the less physical = didn’t perform so well for us in the playoffs Hanifin for 1yr+ of Pastrnak makes sense to me and for CGY

They’d only be giving up another year on Hanifin (or Toffoli) and the equivalent of a 1st Round Prospect = Zary or Ruzicka + TWO 2nds for taking Lucic in exchange for quality rentals C.Smith or P.Zacha

BOS can build with either Zary or Ruzicka, the TWO 2nds AND Hanifin

I agree they should take Hanifin over Toffoli, I just offered the choice, but the benefit is they’d be getting a $5.5-6.5 million winger for just $4.25mil/yr for the next 2 seasons. Maybe they use him this season and then flip him for more assets next season when the tear down actually begins.

This is BOS’s last chance to contend. Do they need Pastrnak or a Top Pairing Defensemen is the question. Hanifin > Hampus Lindholm but that’d be BOS’s problem

I did factor BOS’s needs but my focus is definitely My Team, just like every other poster here

Where did I call you stupid?

If you think Weegar just simply replaces Hanifin you didn't watch the playoffs last year. Kylington simply cannot carry a pair in the top 4 if someone else goes down. Hanifin's also really not a need in Boston now that they have Lindholm locked up (not sure why you think Hanifin is better than Lindholm, Lindholm is one of the best shutdown defensemen in the league, Tanev caliber). So no they really shouldn't target either. Dube makes way more sense because he's younger and has way more team control, It would also be better for Calgary since Hanifin and Toffoli are far more win now than Dube, Ruzicka, and a 1st
