I think there are two camps when it comes to jets fans. One-trade Wheeler for whatever to move on from him and change leadership/culture. 2-Wheeler has value and the jets shouldnt have to retain unless the return is worth it
I kinda fall in between the two. I think he needs to go, but I think he has value. Of course his contract is a major hang up as well as the NTC.
This deal isnt too bad for the jets IMO. I dont like retaining that much dead cap and Hornqvist is a downgrade, but if getting a 2nd and then shipping Hornqvist out for some sort of half decent package?? that makes it more palatable.
Im starting to come to realization that this roster is probably pretty much set. I would like to see them add some scoring to the bottom 6 and maybe they get a sweet deal before rosters need to be set or, at the very least, claim upgrades on waivers

If Edmonton wants a big, hard-hitting 3rd pair defenseman they'll just call up Dmitri Samorukov or Marcus Niemelainen. They aren't trading Puljujarvi for that poor return.
