No. Just... no. This is a brutal look for Columbus, pushing every chip to the middle at a time when they should be keeping their powder a little drier for the future. And Laine is gonna need more $$$ than you gave him here. Probably at least another $500K.
I don't view this as pushing every chip to the table or sacrificing the future. The long-term core is Gaudreau, Laine, Werenski, Sillinger, Johnson, Jiricek and Mateychuk. Bjorkstrand is arguably in that group as well, but at a position where they're already deep. After this trade, Andersson goes into that long-term core and Lindholm joins him if they can work out an extension.
Ceulemans is blocked long-term by Jiricek (and, if this trade happened, Andersson) – they also have Boqvist as a potential top-four RHD. Chinakhov is a really nice prospect but they're not hurting for wingers long-term, either. Texier and Marchenko have just as much of a shot to be long-term top six wings as Chinakhov.
Roslovic + Nyquist are both good players who aren't long-term, core pieces for Columbus.
The two picks would be a lot to swallow, but if they build in a protection in case they stink this year and win the lotto, they shouldn't miss them too much.
