Just a quick list of players I think might be out the door in Winnipeg:
Mark Scheifele
Paul Stastny ( I would love if he resigned but I doubt he will keep taking bargain 1 year contracts for a team that hasn’t proved to be a playoff contender; I see him either returning to Colorado or playing for his buddy Andrew Brunette in Florida.
Zachary Sanford: he was just a rental, playing on the third line wasn’t much of a success and I see Barron taking his spot next season
Kristian Vesalinen- Needs a fresh start
Nate Schmidt- good character in the room but the Jets need to clear cap and also make room for Samberg and possibly another top dman in a Scheifele trade
Logan Stanley-Despite all the work the Jets have put in developing him, there are way better players than him that are literally out of the lineup because of him
Possibly:
Jansen Harkins
Dylan Demelo- If he is traded, Kovacevic could replace him. More offensive upside, steady defensively, blocks shots, can play the pk m, cheaper
Ville Heinola- only way I see Bille Heinola traded is if it’s in a blockbuster which is part of the Scheif trade
**many people hate on Wheeler but I genuinely think he can be part of the solution for this team. He just has to adapt to the new culture of the team

After the news came out recently about Chevy being extended and the coaching staff being absolutely obliterated, I think it’s safe to say that Chevy is leading this team in the direction of change. Obviously the off season for the Jets has just started but things are already starting to unfold with the very candid comments of Mark Scheifele yesterday. It will be interesting to see what happens but this arm chair gm team will focus on things that will likely happen.
1) The first thing I want to address here is coaching. I’m not gonna dive into the assistants for this team because I have no idea who they will be however, there have been some talks about who the Jets might see as good candidates for the head coach job. As all Jets fans know, Chevy LOVES to hire people with inner connections to the organization. It is very rare that he has ever hired anyone outside of his “circle”, so to speak. In this case, for the coaching job next season I think it would be smart to hire someone outside of that connection base because it ensures that an actual “fresh” voice will be given. That being said, I doubt that will happen. I see the following people as potential coaching candidates for the Jets next season.
1) James Patrick- coach of the Winnipeg ice: Chevy obviously is very familiar with Patrick from being the head coach of the WHL team in the Peg and could possibly be considered for the job however he definitely lacks the NHL experience needed
2)Pascal Vincent- assistance coach for the Blue Jackets: not much to say here. He was the coach for the Manitoba Moose for plenty of seasons and has a very good relationship with Chevy. Maybe he comes back to Winnipeg for a better opportunity as head coach of the NHL club.
3)Randy Carlyle- don’t think this would happen but it would be very funny.
4) An outsider to the Winnipeg Jets Organization: this is the one that I want to see happen because I think it will benefit the organization the most.

Now on to the new hot topic of this Jets team, Mark Scheifele. After the rumours floating a round regarding his name, I didn’t think much of it but as they started heating up as the season winded down further and further, I started to see it as a real possibility. And now after his comments yesterday, there is no doubt in my mind Scheifele will be traded this off season.

The main piece around the trade that the Jets should be looking for is a top defencemen or a centreman to play behind Dubois. Either piece should also be complemented by draft picks or prospects.
