How are you going to pick Paul up and then not put him back with Mangiapane?? Haha
I’d do that late Florida second. That gets accepted.

Paul, Nicholas
OTT
2022 2nd round pick (FLA)
When you trade a player for a pick, the pick has to have a chance to be better than the current player, and a very late 2nd isn't going to be better than what Nick Paul is right now. Ottawa has the room for Paul, they have the cap space for him, so they would be better off just keeping him than to trade for a pick that might one day be only as good as what they have. Paul has been developed, they know what they have in him, if you want Nick Paul, it would cost a minimum early 2nd. Nick Paul can play wing, he can play centre, take faeoffs, he's first over the boards on the PK, and often on the ice late in the game when they need to protect the lead of a close game. He's well liked in the locker room, and is a main part of the leadership group. Ottawa isn't giving a player like that away for just a 50/50 pick, which is what late 2nds are. If you think he's a rental, that's what he is to you, but to Ottawa, he's a guy they will likely resign and will continue to be an important part of this team. So no, he isn't a rental, as far as Ottawa is concerned.
If you want Nick Paul, the offer has to make sense for Ottawa.
