This team isnt winning a Stanley Cup this year IMO. But before you absolutely roast me, just hear me out. The past 2-3 seasons we've lost cornerstone pieces (Krejci, Chara, Krug, Rask - if you want to count him you can) to FA for nothing in return. Granted they were in a different position and looked like a true cup contending team so I'm not blaming them for getting nothing before each of the players departures. But this year I wouldn't say they are that same team thats expected to be at the top of the standings or alive at the end of the playoff bracket. So why not use arguably your most valuable piece whose on a contract year to start gaining back a young roster player or some assets?
So maybe this isnt the completely right package to get for Bergeron but it does give them a potential option for a future 1/2C in Robert Thomas and it really solidifies STL center depth for another deep run. Idk if this works for STL cap but I'm sure theres a way that it could work. And this is honestly just an example, doesnt have to be STL. I honestly have no clue how to value Bergeron in a trade because I really never thought I'd be mocking this up but here I am. Maybe theres another pick/prospect coming BOS way? Idk, you can tell me below when you roast me.
DeBrusk will be moved, idk what for but I expect it to happen.
Studnicka; I'd move on from him too, could use him as a sweetener to get an extra pick thrown into a trade. Stud should've been traded years ago when other teams had legitimate interest, the organization and fans were high on him, including myself but he's been nothing but a bust to this point. Ppl will argue that there isnt space in the lineup for him. Well my counter to that is he probably just isnt good enough to be in the lineup. Studnicka has done nothing to show he belongs on a NHL roster or he would be here right now.
The 2015 draft was a complete fail (in retrospect but still an ultimate fail). I know I'm ready to move on from Don Sweeney, I've been ready. Theres a lot of work to do to get this team heading back in the right direction. They still have some real solid pieces to build around (Pasta, McAvoy, Carlo, Swayman).
Now with all of this being said, we know none of this will happen. The way Sweeney constructed the UFA signings this off-season is I think a true indicator of Bergy's shelf life. Reilly 3 years, Forbort 3 years, Folingo 2 years, Nosek 2 years, Haula 2 years. In my eyes this is Sweeney's version of "gearing up" for one more push with Bergy. I dont think Bergeron is done after this year, I think we'll see him sign a 2-3 year extension.
Last but not least before you roast me, just remember the road to the 2011 Stanley Cup all began with the trade of Jumbo Joe.
I’m not going to roast you. This idea is too bad to roast. It’s more of a roll eyes and move on kind of ACGM.
But do you at least see where I'm coming from here? Why not move Bergy for assets and then re-sign him in the summer? I forgot to add that Bergy needs to accept any trade involved so that would maybe hinder everything I just talked about. But again, re-gain some assets, if Bergy allows it to happen and then re-sign him come Summer 2022.
Your mom doesn't love you Oh not that type of roast
jk but fr Blues dont do even conisder that
Bergeon just walks
we dont have the cap space
Thomas is our future 1C
hes cheap for next year too like there are so many problems with it
