I think this kinda a dream lineup for the oily boys. Great offense, and a much improved D core thanks to Girard. The tandem could be a bit shaky if Smith goes down again, but that's a concession I'd be willing to make.

This deal makes sense for the Avs, they get a bottom 6 scoring winger who's only 25 years old, a top 4 D prospect, and a much needed, consistently healthy backup goaltender. And they add a 2nd and 5th round pick in next years draft that they can potentially use in a future deal.

I love Broberg, but there are some questions about his ceiling and defensive ability, he would be a good guy for the oilers to move on from IF you get the right piece back. Girard is only a few years old than Broberg and is already an established top 4 defender. (Johansson serves as a 3rd safety net option, incase one of Smith or Skinner goes down)

I get that but man some of these asks for Girard are astronomical, not this one though.

Well you have a leg upon a lot of others who don't seem to understand what Colorado would want in return then. Futures won't do it, and a reasonably good forward who is aging and on an expiring contract won't either.

Colorado could wait until the tdl and chase a forward with other assets. They don't need to move Girard for one. If the move Sam during the year, it will have to be a really good return.
