It would be nice, but he's only 20 and the Jets have no need to rush him in. He'd be better off playing top pairing minutes, PP and PK on the Moose than bottom pairing or sitting in the press box on the Jets. He'd also probably be the first injury call up.

I still maintain that DeMelo was one of only two guys we shouldn’t have traded, Merilainen is nice but like Kleven+Merilainen or Niemela/Hirvonen+Merilainen? Not a big difference there imo. The other one being Stone of course, I would have much preferred to keep him, give him 80mil and the C and call it a day. I feel much better about Tkachuk-White-Stone / Stutzle-Norris-Batherson / Formenton-Pinto-C. Brown, and if we keep Stone maybe White develops better (maybe not to a true 1C but at least to a passable point until Pinto steps into the top 6). Regardless I would trade Merilainen+Brannstrom+Sokolov for Stone+DeMelo in a heartbeat.

Random thought way off topic, if Mathews plays out his contract, do you think he goes home to a rebuilt coyotes, and on the same amount of years left, does scheifele do the same and go to Toronto?
