Trade for Appleton and Lauzon who otherwise BOS and WPG may lose in the Seattle ED.

If Schmidt wants to move on, expose him to Seattle. His whole cap hit is gone, he cannot use his NTC and we do not have to retain any salary. Perhaps more importantly this is done early in the off season giving JB time to hunt UFAs.

Yes, because the Jets have to lose someone and if they trade Appleton, they lose someone else as good or better. So, they lose two roster players instead of just one and replace them with a pick that won't help for 3 or 4 years minimum.
