Yes, because the Jets have to lose someone and if they trade Appleton, they lose someone else as good or better. So, they lose two roster players instead of just one and replace them with a pick that won't help for 3 or 4 years minimum.

A 2nd round pick is EXCELLENT value for Appleton. But if WPG doesn't want to do that trade, then fair enough. Poor asset mgmt on the part of WPG but we could trade for Appleton with Seattle after the ED, so no problem

Sure it is excellent value in a vacuum, but when you add on that Winnipeg will then also lose another player that is better than Appleton to Seattle, the.Jets have suddenly lost two valuable players and replaced them with a pick that doesn't help them in the near term. So, it would be terrible asset management by Winnipeg. The jets have to lose one power in the XD, why make it worse by losing 2?
