Giroux - Ristolainen

People will hate this...sorry I've just always wanted to say this. I do agree though people will hate this and I agree with them, Risto is a middle pairing guy, with a good defensive partner he can't play 22+ without making 2 many defensive mistakes.

That's a fairly reasonable offer for Risto - Logan Brown has some skills but he's never gonna fit as a power player despite his size, if you can accept that he can probably play a useful role as a pass first 2C

Philly likely isn't trading Giroux, but Ottawa also shouldn't trade for him. Love the player, but at 33 turning 34 next season, he's not a long term player for Ottawa. I don't think it makes sense to pay what it costs for him, when those pieces will be more valuable to Ottawa long term. If he hits free agency next summer, then by all means bring him in on a deal that makes sense, but I'm not trading for him.

By the way, Ristolainen is not good. He's just Nikita Zaitsev with points, which isn't the player Ottawa needs at all. I wouldn't touch him with a 20ft pole, let alone giving up a 2bd and prospects for him.

Also Victor Mete was one of out best players from when he arrived to the end of the season. Ottawa would have to be braindead to lose him for nothing, especially when the dmen you are adding are Rasmus Ristolainen, Shayne Gostisbehere and Michael Del Zotto. I'll take Mete over any of those guys 100/100.
