Ngl if Moore wasn’t included I’d be fine with a trade like this (we don’t need him, we’ve got a bunch of guys capable of playing 3LD even if Vaak doesn’t immediately step into that role). Vaak is a solid prospect that could be our long term 2LD after Valimaki, Kase is a middle 6 right shot RW that can score 20+ goals, 1st and Frederic is nice to increase our prospect depth. It also gives us a little cap space to sign a guy like Vatanen to solidify our D depth (he’s a right shot who can play the left in the top 4 if Valimaki can’t handle that immediately, or solifiy the 3RD position if Valimaki is fine) and/or give us significant space to make a splash at the deadline. Losing Bennett sucks, but I think this helps our offense in the short term and makes our future outlook better with a couple good new prospects with NHL potential (or for use as trade bait) so adding him in is fine. We also don’t need him at 3C in this scenario, as Lindholm/Monahan/Backlund/Ryan are our likely centres so we can fit Gaudreau/Tkachuk/Mangiapane/Kase in the top 6 on the wings.
