Honestly, I think if all Arizona cares about is clearing salary obligations, Dubinsky and a meh prospect makes a lot of sense. One year left, no money to actually be paid.
The amount of times I've almost published different variations of "Dubinsky + Carlsson for Stepan" lol.
Makes so much sense for both sides. That said, CBJ is going to probably move Savard and I'd prefer someone a bit more established in Savard's spot than Peeke -- what about something like this?
CBJ gets Stepan + Demers
ARI gets Dubinsky + Carlsson + Nutivaara
Not sure about real salaries relative to cap hits but ARI would get to shed the Stepan + Demers contracts in their final year, get a fully insured guy in Dubinsky who would help them stay above the cap floor, a decent prospect in Carlsson who could desperately use a change of scenery but has some great tools (very good skater, good in his own end, great size) but isn't flashy AND Nutivaara, who can either get a bigger opportunity or get flipped (or parlay an opportunity into picks at the deadline) and is on a team-friendly deal.
CBJ fills a need at 2C, gets a Torts guy in Stepan and a Savard replacement who would improve the possession stats for the second pair with Gavrikov.
