So, for those of you who may not have seen it, Dean Blundell, a Canadian radio personality. He tweeted out on Thursday that the Leafs could deal Johnsson, Liljegren and the 15th overall pick to St. Louis for Colton Parayko. I am sure that many of you, without knowing where the source of this came from, has seen that deal pop up a bunch on this AGM. Blundell sites that he has a source in MLSE that told him this deal had only been "proposed as a possibility". So, I reached out to my people to see if this was true and what I could find. Based on what I got back, the Leafs and Blues have been talking about some form of swap for Parayko for over a year, which is no surprise. After it was reported earlier this week that Vlad Tarasenko would need a further shoulder operation and would be out a minimum of 5 months (and perhaps longer), St. Louis got busy trying to see what the mark was like for a young top-end forward. On the other side of the table, the Leafs don't want to part with the 15th overall, specifically because of the roster-occupying cost-saving slot they hope the draft pick will occupy within 1-3 years, while the cap is still flat. And no, no goalies have been discussed, from either team, as part of this deal.

So, although potentially other forms of this deal may have bee discussed, this is currently the deal on the table.

Take this information with however many grains of salt you choose, but just understand nothing is concrete or set in stone at the moment.
