PLEASE IGNORE ABDELKADER AND ABERG!!
I had to have at least ten players, they are the extra two.
Not counting Shesterkin and Petersen and similar cases who’ve had a considerable time in the NHL this season
Copley proved he could be a reliable backup two seasons ago, when he was solid behind Braden Holtby. Samsonov has since eclipsed him, but if the caps let Holtby go, Copley and Vanecek will fight for the backup role
When VGK was ravaged by injuries in their Cinderella first season, Dansk stepped up and was solid until he too fell victim to the goalie injuries. He has been decent in the AHL, and if VGK lets Lehner go, or trades Fleury, Dansk would be the go-to option
Lots of Hawks fans and other CF users have posted AGMs where Delia takes over CHI’s backup role behind a varied starter. He has played decent in short call ups the past couple seasons, and deserves a shot to stick in the ‘chel
In a similar case to Copley, Casey DeSmith was the effective backup of Matt Murray for a season before Jarry took his place. IMO still a reliable backup who deserves another chance
Kaapo Kahkonen is all around agreed to be Minny’s goalie of the future. He has done incredible in the AHL, and is arguably ready for the NHL next season. In call ups, he has been great, encouraging MIN coaches to do it more often. Watch as he takes over the starting role
The Latvian Kivlenieks is criminally underrated IMO. He has fended off b-list prospect Vehvilainen for starts with Cleveland, and posted decent stats while doing it. He earned a call up, where he got a win. With a stacked CBJ goalie pool, he probably won’t reach his potential there. Trade??
Vanecek is Copley’s competition for WSH’s backup position. It was widely agreed that Copley would take over after Holtby had left, but Vanecek has proven his case again and again with stellar play in the AHL. Now, most AGMs have him as the backup. Good on you, Vitek!
Recently signed Dan Vladar had been phenomenal with Providence, posting mind-blowing stats and earning the praise of Bs fans everywhere. With lots of Rask trade rumours, it seems Vladar is the man for the backup job. Or, he could continue destroying the AHL until Halak’s contract expires and then take over. The choice is yours, Mr. Sweeney
Adam Werner could be a backup if all goes well. Really good numbers in Sweden, fine numbers this year (his first in NA) sv% is brought down from a few horrible games. really young though
I anticipate NSH to give Ingram a look this upcoming season -- it will still be Rinne/Saros, but I could see him getting some action in a handful of games.
I don't think Veini Vehvilainen sees the NHL next year, barring a trade of himself or one of CBJ's top two goalies, but he's got real potential. On the small side, but he gets good reports.
