The buyout isn't even that bad to be honest. Sucks for 3 out of the 8 seasons, is not great for 1 of those seasons and then basically unnoticeable for the other 4 years after....

I mean that's what it boils down to if you keep the pick and buy him out. It could even be argued to just keep him on the roster for the 4 years.
If I was Chicago I would keep the pick. The NHL is rigged as hell at the draft with their stupid ass cards instead of a hopper. Chicago is a huge market, they like that, want to keep that TV revenue.
