Description
This leaves plenty of cap space for next years rfas . youth movement is in full force . MURPHY ,KEITH , MURRAY can be moved easily in the future to open up spots for future d prospects . I am leaving Turcotte on starting roster even though he is supposed to go to college . Byram by many accounts is ready to turn pro , if anyone thinks thinks colorado needs more of a sweetener let me know same for buffalo . lineup has good balance and players are slotted where i feel they should slot in appropriately . i would love to get breadman back but after what skinner got last night i think his ask is 11 mil or more . Top two lines should have dynamic scoring and possession . Third line if KUBALIK works out should be able to contribute well and give a quality 10 to 14 minutes per game . 4TH line is a pure checking line do not expect much offence but a quality hard working 7 to 12 minutes . Most of all this has the chance to be the best defence the hawks have rolled out since 2010 . Also selling high on GUS after his career year . Apparently OILERS had interest in GUS according to rumours .

I get it from your perspective . Forsling has allot of upside and is worth a third . FORTIN and FORSBERG are depth players with upside . I am just dumping them of of hawks roster . FORTIN is french and is nhl ready player by the way a cheap 4th liner local boy for a cheapskate owner . Bring in the GATINEAU and HULL crowd and fill in some empty seats

These are decent points, but it just doesn't make sense. Sens currently have five goalies under contract, and they still have to sign Marcus Hogberg. They simply do not have room for another Goalie.

Fortin could be a useful 4th line option for Ottawa, but with Balcers, Brown, Chlapik, Paul and Formenton all likely to push for full time spots, its going to be really crowded up front. If Ottawa moves out guys like Smith and Boedker, I'd be willing to take a flier on Fortin, but not for a 3rd. Also nobody in Gatineau is schlepping out to Kanata to see Alex Fortin.

Forsling is probably the most appealing option for Ottawa, but I'd be willing to bet on the Sens scouting department to be able to find prospects like that with a 3rd.

Skinner just signed for $9M x 8....you can bet Duchene gets every bit of that and maybe more and that kills the cap space you need next year. You can't count on Kieth waving either to free up cap; while it's possible, it's still unlikely. Maybe if Delia and Lankinen prove themselves as a #1 and #2 then you let Crow walk and free up $5M of cap space but that's a tough position. For this reason if the Hawks bring in Dzingel, I'd forget Duchene or Panarin and focus on someone like Hoffman who could get moved as a 1 year rental if Florida gets Panarin and Bob.

Murphy is gone after this season if Jokiharju plays well as Boqvist and Mitchell are pretty much locks the following season to step up. Bringing me to the point...signing Murray for 6 years is a mistake. He will not command more then 3 to 4 years given his injury history and he would almost certainly get traded next off season along with Murphy. Sure that frees up cap space, but both him and Nash are useless with Byram and Turcotte after 1 season so have to plan on Murphy, Murray, Nash all get traded. Teams will know the Hawks will need to do that too as they will be up against the cap so the return won't be as much as what you're paying for them now likely (assuming none of them have a huge breakout year)....something to be mindful of.

Brings me to the point of Byram. He should not step right into the NHL. Dahlin, who's was hands down rated higher then Byram, struggled this year with the grind of the NHL. Colorado with Maker is a better comparison; it would be wise to give him a year in the juniors or college and then bring him up if the Hawks make the playoffs. Also, you wouldn't start Byram on his wrong side either, he would be on the Left.

To that point, I get trading Gus in attempt to get the picks necessary for Byram and Turcotte but you can count on the PowerPlay going back to being one of the worst in the league. If you had to point to one player who made the biggest difference on the PP this past season going from last place in the league the year prior to #12 was Gus. Murray certainly isn't filling those shoes and like I said on Byram, even if he played a full season which would be bad for his development, there is no way he jumps into the league with major struggles seeing as Dahlin who's better struggled quite a bit. That said, I understand why you did the move as long term Bryam should be better then Gus, but bird in hand now IMO is worth pursuing.

That all said, I think Dzingel would be a perfect fit for Strome and Cat, really good move and agree the contract is going to be $4.5M maybe $4.75M for a hometown guy.
